EvoGov has been receiving a growing number of quote requests from large organizations that need help cleaning PDFs for ADA compliance as a standalone service. In some cases, these requests come from organizations whose websites EvoGov does not host. The reason is simple: most companies offering PDF remediation charge very high fees.
The scale of the problem is bigger than most people realize. In a recent audit, we found it is not uncommon for an EvoGov municipal customer to have more than 10,000 PDFs on their website. One small county we host has over 18,000 PDFs on its site, while a much larger county has just over 1,000.
Pricing
PDF remediation companies charge per PDF page, with a minimum charge per document. Our pricing for non-hosted customers now follows the same structure, but at roughly one quarter the cost of other providers. Bulk PDF cleaning pricing for non-hosted customers is published at evogov.com/evopdfs.
EvoGov hosted customers on our $150/month ADA plan receive the same benefits as the standalone PDF cleaning service and can save thousands of dollars by using it. We have also added safeguards to prevent a brand-new customer from hosting a small site for a small fee and then uploading thousands of PDFs just to have them cleaned.
How It Works
Cleaning PDFs for ADA compliance is technically demanding and expensive. It required several new servers and technologies that EvoGov has built, tested, and successfully deployed on Amazon AWS. Working together, these servers open and edit PDFs, repair font definitions, create missing section headings and language tags, remove unused fonts, re-embed missing fonts, describe images using our Anthropic AI server, auto-describe known icons, images, and glyphs, and run a VeraPDF scanning server for the most rigorous compliance testing.
